Lesson 42

These lessons are for people who want to learn Polish from a beginner's level. Each lesson contains Polish sentences with English translation. These materials are displayed on our site and can be used for free. Additionally, we have audio files for the first ten lessons recorded by Polish native speakers. For each of the first ten lessons there is a handy one-page transcript. The audio file for a given lesson contains the same sentences as the lesson. Each of the first ten lessons has about two minutes of listening material. Every sentence is read out clearly with a perfect Polish accent. You can buy the audio files for lessons 1-10 for $40.

1445	Ci więźniowie zostaną ukarani za pięć dni.	The prisoners will be punished in five days.
1446	Ten ojciec wynagrodzi tego dzielnego mężczyznę za uratowanie życia jego syna.	The father will reward the brave man for saving his son's life.

1452	To słowo nie jest nigdy używane, więc nie musisz się go uczyć.	This word is never used so you don't have to learn it.
1453	Powinnaś nauczyć się słów z tej listy, ponieważ one są używane bardzo często.	You should learn the words from the list because they are used very often.
1454	Czy poznajesz tę dziewczynę, która stoi między tymi dwoma żeglarzami?	Do you recognize the girl who's standing between the two sailors?

1456	To słowo nie może być użyte jako rzeczownik.	This word can't be used as a noun.
1457	Ten czasownik może być użyty tylko w czasie teraźniejszym.	This verb can be used only in the present tense.
1458	Ten król został otruty przez królową.	The king was poisoned by the queen.
1459	Ta królowa zmarła, ponieważ wypiła to zatrute wino.	The queen died because she drank the poisoned wine.

1463	Ten chłopiec obiecał wygrać ten konkurs, ponieważ nie chciał zawieść swojego ojca.	The boy promised to win the competition because he didn't want to disappoint his father.
1464	Ten ojciec był bardzo zawiedziony, ponieważ jego syn nie wygrał tego łatwego konkursu.	The father was very disappointed because his son did not win the easy competiion.
1465	Jestem wściekły, ponieważ zgubiłem wszystkie moje pieniądze wczoraj, a mój sąsiad znalazł tysiąc dolarów rano.	I am furious because I lost all my money yesterday, and my neighbor found a thousand dollars in the morning.

1472	Moi rodzice posiadali dom na wsi ale sprzedali go dwa lata temu.	My parents used to own a house in the country but they sold it two years ago.
1473	Byłem dobry z matmy ale teraz nawet nie potrafię rozwiązywać prostych zadań.	I used to be good at math but now I can't even solve simple problems.
